Vitra employs various recycled plastic materials (polypropylene, ABS, polyamide, polyethylene, ASA) for the manufacture of entire products or components. Parameters such as intended use, construction, strength, load, colouring or feel are decisive for the choice of a type of plastic. A distinction is therefore made between so-called post-consumer recycling materials and post-industrial recycling materials. All recycled plastic materials used by Vitra can in turn be 100% recycled at the end of the product’s life. What does Vitra mean by this ? To make recycled plastic easier to re-use, additives are often added to the recycled granulates, such as finely ground wood chips. As a result, further recycling is no longer possible and the material cycle comes to an end. Vitra avoids this by instead using technical fillers – such as glass fibres – that allow the final product to be recycled again at the end of its life cycle.

The Eames Plastic Stools RE come in a choice of two different heights: medium for kitchen counters and high for standing- height tables. Either chrome-plated or powder-coated in black, the base for both height versions is adapted from the classic four-legged base of the DSX chair. Its geometry is modified to accommodate the altered distribution of forces in the higher seating positions while a footrest ensures comfort and safety. When ordered with a powder-coated base, the Plastic Stools RE can also be used outdoors.
